When do taxes become delinquent?

Taxes become delinquent each year on March 17th, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday.

Will I get a tax bill once the taxes become delinquent?

Yes, a delinquent tax notice is mailed around the first of April and if not paid a certify delinquent tax notice is mailed about thirty day later.

When is the last date I can pay my taxes before preparations are made for the delinquent tax sale?

All taxes are due on or before August 31 of each year to keep them from being listed for sale.

What if I can not pay my taxes by August 31?

You may pay your taxes up to 5:00 P.M. of the last business day before the actual date of the tax sale. However there maybe additional cost assessed.

When is your delinquent tax sale?

The delinquent tax sale can be held after August 31 of each year and after all preparations are made for the sale. We have however for the past several years held the sale on the first Monday in December.

If my property is being advertised, when is the last day I can pay them before it is sold?

All advertised property must be paid by 5 p.m. the Friday before the tax sale date.

My property was sold at the delinquent tax sale. Do I have a chance to reclaim my property?

Yes, You will have one year from the date of sale to redeemed your property by paying the delinquent taxes, penalties, cost and interest.

How can I find out which properties will be sold for delinquent taxes?

All tax sale properties will be advertised in The Voice of Fairfield County and Winnsboro/Fairfield Country Chronicle

(the local papers) three consecutive weeks prior to the tax sale date.

Can I pay my current taxes before paying my delinquent taxes?

No, all delinquent taxes must be paid in full before current taxes are collected.
