Meet The Sheriff

Will Montgomery is a lifelong resident of Fairfield County and a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy. He began his career in law enforcement in 2001 when he was hired as a Deputy with The Richland County Sheriff’s Office. He continued his career with that department for 13 years until he was elected Sheriff of Fairfield County and officially took office on November 24, 2014. Growing up, Sheriff Montgomery learned respect for the law and the importance of serving others from his grandfather and father, who both served as Sheriff.

Sheriff Montgomery is a member of First Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He and his wife, Caroline Carter Montgomery, have one daughter, Alexis. They reside in Winnsboro.

Meet The Chief Deputy

Our Chief Deputy Ricky Gibson has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2015, serving as an SRO Officer in the school system before being promoted to Chief Deputy in 2015. Previously, he worked with the SC Highway Patrol, from which he retired.
