Transit System

Fairfield County has provided public transportation services to its residents since 1988. The Fairfield County Transit system is a department of County Government operating under the authority of the County Administrator.

Fairfield County Transit System started providing Medicaid Transportation service to its residents in 2012 which assist with getting them to medical appointments.

In an effort to increase Fairfield County Transit System visibility, build awareness of service capabilities, improve user friendliness, and enhance general public access to services, and to increase ridership.

Fairfield County Transit System offers several types of services. The system operates a Demand Response service called Transit Go, The Killian Road Express that partners with the Comet bus system, and our Deviated Fixed Route Service.

Transportation services are offered in varying frequencies. Some routes operate every weekday, while other routes operate on select weekdays.

The service times vary by route starting in the early morning hours through late afternoon hours. Route deviation service is available to the general public for an additional charge up to $.25 to $.50 plus the normal route fare. Fare will range in price depending on the level of service.

All Fairfield County Transit buses are ADA compliant and are fully equipped with a lift and a mobility aid securement area. For more details and information please refer to the department menu on the right for route schedules.
